8 Simpson County News, Mendenhall, Miss. Thursday, March 28, 1985 People and Places Dale Deen named to HJC dean's list DALE DEEN Christy Lea welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Ben Leatheman of Mendenhall announce the birth of their daughter, Christy Lea, born January 27. She weighed 8 lbs.

6 ozs. Maternal grandparents are Tom and Ernestine Weathersby of Panama City, Fla. and paternal grandparents are JoAnne Leatherman of Bear Lake, Mich. and the late Richard Elmond Leatherman. Sandifer celebrates 98th birthday March 31, 2-4 p.m.

Mrs. Lela Sandifer will celebrate her 98th birthday on March 31st from 2-4 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to come share with her on this happy birthday at her home in the Pearl Community. Lee places in La. pageant Amanda Lee recently participated in the annual Southern Queen of Hearts Beauty Pageant and Talent Contest held in Mt.

Hermon, La. Amanda was the winner in her age division of the Miss Jeanene Crosby Jeanene Crosby to wed Paul Smith Mrs. Oscar Slay Crosby of Shivers announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Jeanene, to Paul Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Earl Smith of Brookhaven.

Miss Crosby is also the daughter of the late Oscar Slay Crosby. Miss Crosby is the grandaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Estus Lee of Pinola and the late Mr. and Mrs.

John Chapman Crosby of Shivers. Mr. Smith is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Jackson and Roderick Denon Smith, all of Brookhaven and AMANDA LEE AMANDA LEE Alesia Strickland Army National Guard Pvt.

Alesia Strickland, daughter of Ola Strickland and niece of Betty L. Strickland, both of Mount Olive, has completed of Army food service specialist the late Ratha Smith. Miss Crosby is a graduate of New Hebron High School and Hinds Jr. College where she majored in Veterinary Technology. Mr.

Smith is a graduate of Brookhaven High School and attended Mississippi State University. He is a dairy farmer in the Heucks Retreat Community in Lincoln County. Vows will be exchanged April 6 at 7:30 p.m. from Shivers Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Douglas Talent Contest.

Dale, the 20 year old son of Dorothy Deen is a high school graduate of West Union Attendance Center and is presently attending Mississippi College in Clinton.
